UGC creator salary: what the data actually shows

By James Tumbucon
Updated · 7 min read

There is no verified UGC creator salary figure. On 12 Oct 2026 we found no salary page for UGC creators on Indeed or Glassdoor, and the ZipRecruiter and Upwork pages could not be retrieved. Most UGC creators are freelancers paid per video, so the useful numbers are published per-video rates, listed below with sources.

Is there a reliable UGC creator salary figure?

No. On 12 Oct 2026 we checked the main salary sources for a UGC creator salary page and could not verify a single figure on any publisher's own page.

Source What we found on 12 Oct 2026
Indeed No UGC creator salary page (the address returns "not found"). The "content creator" page redirects to "content writer", a different role
Glassdoor No UGC creator salary page found
ZipRecruiter Page could not be retrieved, so its figures could not be checked
Upwork Page could not be retrieved, so its figures could not be checked
US Bureau of Labor Statistics Publishes pay for film and video editors, a different role (see below). We did not find a UGC creator figure

Annual "UGC salary" numbers do circulate in search results and blog posts. We could not confirm any of them on the original source, so this page does not repeat them. If you see one, open the source and check what job title and what kind of work it measures.

Why is UGC creator salary data so thin?

Salary data is collected from salaried jobs, and most UGC creators do not have one. They are freelancers paid per video, per package or per month, often through several platforms and direct clients at once.

Five things make a single salary figure unreliable:

  • Pay is per piece. Income depends on how many paid videos you deliver, not on hours or a contract salary.
  • Scope differs. One "video" can be a raw clip or a captioned ad with hook variants, two aspect ratios and paid usage rights.
  • Add-ons are a large part of pay. Usage rights, whitelisting and extra hooks are often priced on top.
  • Platform fees vary. Marketplaces take different cuts, so the same brand budget pays creators different amounts.
  • Job titles overlap. Postings for "UGC" can be in-house social media or content roles, which are salaried and measure a different job.

The nearest public data is on freelance share. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (page last modified 27 Aug 2026) lists 35% of film and video editors as self-employed. That is a different role, but it shows how much video work sits outside salaried jobs.

How much do UGC creators make per video?

Published per-video rates for human UGC creators run from about a hundred dollars to over a thousand, depending on experience and scope. The figures below are as each source published them, checked on 12 Oct 2026.

Source and date Level or scope Range as published
SideShift (31 Mar 2026) Beginner creators $100 to $300 per video
SideShift (31 Mar 2026) Intermediate creators $300 to $800 per video
SideShift (31 Mar 2026) Advanced creators $800 to $1,500+ per video
SideShift (31 Mar 2026) Benchmark in the same article $150 to $212 per video, median around $175

SideShift is a UGC platform, and these are its published guidance figures, not survey data. Treat them as reference points.

How much do AI UGC creators charge?

Published AI UGC rates start lower than human UGC rates and rise with scope. Agency prices sit higher because they include strategy, scripting and QA.

Source and date What it prices Range as published
Wireflow (9 Jul 2026) Finished AI UGC video $50 to $200 per video
Wireflow (9 Jul 2026) Monthly retainer $1,500 to $5,000 per month
Motionbox (5 Aug 2026) Solo editor, raw finished AI UGC ad $150 to $350 per ad
Motionbox (5 Aug 2026) With captions, hooks and a second aspect ratio $250 to $600 per ad
Motionbox (5 Aug 2026) Monthly retainer $2,500 to $8,000 per month
Vidpros (23 Oct 2025) Freelancers, AI video in general $100 to $500 per video

All figures were checked on the source page on 12 Oct 2026. How much to charge for AI UGC ads has the full set, including agency batches and how to read the ranges.

What do UGC add-ons and usage rights pay?

Add-ons can change the total for one video by more than the base rate. Usage rights for paid ads and whitelisting are the largest.

Add-on Range as published Source and date
Paid usage rights 30 to 100 percent of the base rate Motionbox (5 Aug 2026)
Paid ad use or whitelisting (human UGC) 30% to 100% of base rate in one section; 30% to 50% in another SideShift (31 Mar 2026)
Whitelisting $500 to $2,000 or more per asset Motionbox (5 Aug 2026)
Extra hook variant $40 to $80 each Motionbox (5 Aug 2026)
Extra revision round, after two included $75 to $150 Motionbox (5 Aug 2026)

SideShift also describes a performance model: a $300 base rate plus $1 to $4 per 1,000 views (SideShift, 31 Mar 2026). That ties pay to views, not to ad results.

To put these terms in writing, use the UGC rate card and contract template.

How are UGC creators paid?

UGC creators are paid in one of five ways, and many use more than one at once. The model matters as much as the rate, because it decides how steady the income is.

Model How it works What it means for income
Per video A fixed fee for each finished video Simple to quote; income stops when orders stop
Package A fixed fee for a set of videos, often one concept with several hooks Larger single payments; scope creep inside the package costs you
Retainer A monthly fee for a set volume Steadier income; the workload can grow while the fee stays the same
Gifted product Product instead of money Not income; useful only for early spec work
Performance Pay tied to views or ad results, often with a base Lower when ads flop, higher when they scale

Platform payouts follow each platform's own terms, so read them before you count on a date. UGC creator guides covers platforms and where the work is posted.

What raises a UGC creator's rate?

Scope and proof raise a rate more than experience in years. A creator who can show results and deliver more per order can charge more for each video.

  • Results you can share. Spend, click-through rate or return on ad spend from past ads.
  • Volume and variants. Hook variants, extra ratios and several formats from one brief.
  • Usage priced separately. Paid usage, whitelisting and exclusivity listed as their own lines.
  • A niche. Repeat work in one product category builds samples brands in that category trust.

How do you estimate your own UGC income?

Work it out from your own numbers instead of an average. A monthly estimate needs five inputs.

Monthly income estimate

Paid videos delivered per month [number]
x Average fee per video [amount]
+ Add-ons (usage, whitelisting, hooks) [amount]
+ Retainers or performance pay [amount]
- Platform fees [amount]
- AI tool credits and software [amount]
= Monthly income before tax [amount]

The input that moves the result most is usually paid videos per month. Track how many briefs turn into paid work, and how long each video takes you, before you set a target.

Remember that freelance income has costs a salary does not: tax, unpaid pitching time, tools and gaps between clients. Compare a UGC income estimate with a salary only after those are taken off.

What do video editors earn? (a different role)

Video editor pay is the closest salaried data that is published, but it is a different job. Editors cut footage for employers or clients; UGC creators make the content and are usually paid per video. Use these figures only as context.

Source and date Role Figure as published
US Bureau of Labor Statistics (May 2025 data; page modified 27 Aug 2026) Film and video editors, US Median annual wage $75,420
Same source Television, video and film camera operators and editors combined, US Median $75,100 per year, $36.10 per hour
Indeed (updated 4 Oct 2026) Video editor, US, 1.2k salaries from Indeed postings over 36 months Average $33.91 per hour

None of these figures is UGC creator pay. They describe employed and self-employed editors across film, TV and other industries.

What do creative strategists earn? (a different role)

Creative strategists plan ads rather than make them, and some UGC creators move into this role. Payscale (updated 1 Sep 2026) lists an average base salary of $61,573 for a creative strategist in the US in 2026, with a 10th to 90th percentile range of $40k to $102k, based on 75 salary profiles.

That figure is for a salaried strategy role, not for UGC creation.

Is flat fee or performance pay better for UGC creators?

Neither is better for everyone. A flat fee pays the same whatever the ad does; performance pay pays less when an ad flops and more when it scales.

Flat fees suit creators who are new, or who work with clients that do not share results. Performance pay suits creators whose ads already perform and who can make volume. Performance pay vs flat fee for AI editors compares the two with sources.

How does Anglr pay?

Anglr does not publish pay figures. Anglr pays AI creators, editors and agencies on performance, with an optional smart retainer for hitting volume.

Creators are paid on each brand's payment terms, shown before they start, straight to their bank. Anglr is not for beginners: it is for creators whose ads already perform. Read how Anglr works for creators, how performance pay works, or browse the UGC creator guides.

Who this is for

  • Independent AI creators and editors. You make the ads yourself. You know your work performs, so you'd rather be paid on what it does than on a flat fee.
  • AI agencies and studios. You run a team of editors. You write the brief, your team makes the versions, and you're paid on performance because you know your team's ads scale.

Not for you if

  • You only want a flat fee.
  • You're new to editing and not yet confident your ads will perform.
  • You want every shot spelled out for you.
  • You make one style and won't try others.
