What does the TikTok safe zone cover?
On a TikTok In-Feed ad, the interface sits on three sides of the video. The checker shades four blocks on a 1080x1920 frame.
| Zone | Area on 1080x1920 | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Top UI | 0 to 270 px down, full width | Interface along the top edge |
| Bottom UI | 1,250 to 1,920 px down, full width | Ad caption, account name and call-to-action |
| Left edge | 0 to 60 px across | Side margin |
| Right button rail | 960 to 1,080 px across | TikTok's engagement buttons |
That leaves a safe area 900 px wide and 980 px tall, starting 60 px from the left and 270 px from the top.
Why are TikTok's zones approximate?
TikTok publishes its safe zone only as template files. Its In-Feed ads help page offers the templates for download but gives no numbers in the page text.
The same page says the zone is not fixed. It depends on:
- Orientation of the video.
- Ad caption length. A longer caption gives a smaller safe zone.
- Anchors. Using them changes the area that stays clear.
So the checker builds an estimate from published numbers on other platforms and marks it "approximate" on screen:
- The top 270 px and bottom 670 px follow Meta's official Reels margins of 14 and 35 percent, from the Instagram Reels specs.
- The left 60 px is close to Meta's 6 percent side margin.
- The right edge is widened to 120 px, about 11 percent, to cover TikTok's button rail. Google's Shorts ads page uses a 10 percent right margin for the same kind of rail.

Where should text go on a TikTok ad?
Put on-screen text inside the 980 px band between 270 px and 1,250 px from the top. Then keep it off the right-hand 120 px.
The TikTok safe area is not centred left to right. It runs from 60 px to 960 px, so its centre line is at 510 px, not 540 px. Text centred on the full frame drifts 30 px towards the buttons. Two practical fixes:
- Left-align hook text at 60 to 80 px from the left edge, so long lines end well before the rail.
- Keep centred captions short. At large sizes, a line about 800 px wide is the most that fits between the margins with room to spare.
Vertically, the middle of the safe band is about 760 px from the top. A face or product placed there stays clear of both the top interface and the caption block.
What about burned-in subtitles?
Subtitles are the text most likely to land in TikTok's caption block, because editors place them low by habit. Set the subtitle baseline above 1,250 px. If the ad caption is long, raise them further, since TikTok says a longer caption takes more of the frame.
For AI-generated talking-head or UGC-style shots, frame the speaker so their chin sits in the upper half of the safe band. Then subtitles can go below the face and still sit above 1,250 px.
Worked example: a product demo frame
A 1080x1920 AI product demo has the hook text "Day 3 of using this" centred 220 px from the top, a hand holding the product at 700 px, and a price sticker at the right edge, 1,000 to 1,060 px across, at 900 px down.
Load the frame and pick TikTok (In-Feed ads). The checker shows:
- The hook text sits inside the top zone, which ends at 270 px. Move it to about 300 px.
- The product at 700 px is inside the safe band. No change.
- The price sticker sits in the right button rail, which starts at 960 px. Move it left so it ends before 960 px.

How do you get the TikTok safe zone PNG?
Open the transparent overlays section under the checker and click TikTok (In-Feed ads). You get a 1080x1920 PNG with the four zones shaded and the rest transparent. Place it on the top track in CapCut or Premiere while you edit, and remove it before export.
The overlay and the checker read the same zone data, so they always match. Your file stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

FAQ
What is the TikTok safe zone in pixels?
TikTok does not state one in text. This checker uses an approximation on 1080x1920: keep the top 270 px, the bottom 670 px, the left 60 px and the right 120 px clear, which leaves a 900 x 980 px safe area.
Where should captions go on a TikTok ad?
Keep burned-in captions and hook text between 270 px and 1,250 px from the top, and between 60 px and 960 px from the left. Below that band, TikTok's own caption and account name sit over your video.
Does the TikTok safe zone change with caption length?
Yes. TikTok's In-Feed ads help page says a longer ad caption gives a smaller safe zone, and that orientation and anchors also change it. Keep the ad caption short if you need text low in the frame.
Is there an official TikTok safe zone template?
Yes. TikTok's In-Feed ads help page offers the safe zone as downloadable template files. Use it to confirm exact edges for a final export; this checker is for quick checks of your own frames.
How do I use a TikTok safe zone PNG in CapCut?
Download the transparent TikTok overlay from the checker, add it on the top track above your video, stretch it across the timeline, and delete or hide it before you export.
