Ad specs for paid social video

These ad specs cover video ads on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts: aspect ratio, resolution, length, file size, file types and text limits for each placement. Every value comes from the platform's own spec page, with the source and the date it was checked. Where a platform does not publish a value, the page says so.

What these pages cover

Each platform page has one table per placement, built from the platform's official help or ads guide pages. Meta covers Facebook Feed, Stories and Reels; Instagram covers Feed, Stories and Reels; TikTok covers auction In-Feed, Spark Ads and Reach and Frequency; YouTube Shorts covers Shorts ads.

Under each table is the source link and the date it was checked: 12 Oct 2026 for the current set. Below the tables, each page explains what matters when you make AI video ads for that platform: which ratio to generate in, how long to cut, where text fits, and which settings to export with.

How the values were chosen

Only first-party pages were used. Where two official pages disagree, such as Meta's older video one-sheet and its current Ads Guide on Stories length, the current page is used and the other is noted. Where a platform does not publish a value, the table shows "Not stated" instead of a figure from a third-party guide.

Two gaps stand out. Meta has no fetchable spec page for Facebook Reels, and TikTok publishes its In-Feed safe zone only as template files, with no figures in the page text.

Tools that go with the specs

The safe zone checker shows where captions, buttons and account names cover a 9:16 frame on TikTok, Reels, Stories and Shorts. The video aspect ratio converter turns a clip into 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9 with a crop or a blurred fill. The ad mockup generator shows your video in feed, story and reels-style frames with generic UI, as an illustrative mockup.
