What an AI brand film ad looks like
An AI brand film ad is a cinematic sequence of shots cut to music, with the product as the subject and no one talking to camera. The examples on this page are mostly landscape: wide city streets, roads at dawn, clouds over a skyline, open landscapes, and product hero frames such as a drinks can against a sunset.
Some go further from realism, with painterly or classical-art scenes. What they share is film framing, slow camera moves and a single clear product moment.
Brand film or UGC: when each one fits
A brand film and a UGC ad can carry the same angle, but they say it in different ways.
| Brand film | UGC selfie ad | |
|---|---|---|
| Who speaks | Voiceover or nobody | One person to camera |
| Main asset | Shots, light, music | Face and spoken script |
| Where the angle sits | On-screen lines, final frame | The first spoken line |
| Usual ratio in the examples | Landscape | Vertical 9:16 |
| What can go wrong | Product drifts between shots | Lip-sync and hands |
Brands use the film format when they want the product to look premium, or when the product is easier to show than to explain. It also gives an account a different look from the talking-face ads around it.
Shot structure for a 15 to 30 second cut
- 0–2 s, opening frame. One striking wide shot or an extreme close-up. It has to work with the sound off.
- 2–8 s, the world. Two or three shots that set the place and mood the product belongs to.
- 8–14 s, the problem or desire. One shot that shows what the viewer wants or lacks. A single line of on-screen text can state it.
- 14–22 s, product hero. The product in frame, lit, sharp and readable. Hold it long enough to read the label.
- 22–30 s, close. Product and brand name together, the offer or call to action as text, and a clean last frame for the end card.
Writing for a film with no presenter
The script is a shot list plus at most three lines of copy. Write each line so it can stand alone as on-screen text or a voiceover, and keep it under ten words.
Put the angle from the winning script into the line over the problem shot, and the promise into the line over the product hero. Pick music after the cut is locked, so the cuts can land on the beat.
Aspect ratio and length
Generate landscape if the ad will run where landscape fits, and frame every key shot so a centred vertical crop still holds the product. For Reels, Stories and TikTok, deliver a separate 9:16 export rather than a letterboxed landscape file.
Keep a 15 second cut and a 30 second cut. Longer edits work as brand pieces but are harder to keep consistent.
Make it with AI
Build the film image first, then animate. A typical run looks like this:
- Generate a still for every shot in the list, with the same lighting and colour notes in each prompt.
- Generate the product hero frame from a real product photo so the label, shape and colour stay correct.
- Animate each still with an image-to-video model, one shot at a time, with a single camera move per shot.
- Cut, add music and text, then export each ratio.
[shot type] of [product] in [setting], [time of day] light, [camera move], [lens look], colour palette [colours], no text, no people
For model choice and settings, see the guides for Veo 3, Kling and Seedance.
Checks before it goes live
- Product accuracy. Compare every product frame to the real product: label text, logo, colour, cap, size. Regenerate any frame where the label is misspelt or the shape changes.
- Claims in text. On-screen lines are claims. Only state what the brand can back up.
- Real places and people. Don't put a recognisable person or another company's logo in a frame unless the brand has the rights.
- AI disclosure. Follow the platform's rules; see AI ad labels on Meta and TikTok.
From a winning script to a brand film
A brand film is often the last format made from a script, after the UGC and podcast versions. Take the hook line from the winning script and turn it into the opening text, the problem line into the problem shot, and the call to action into the end card. The script does not change; only the way it is shown changes. One winning script, made in every ad format explains the full method.
Coming to ads from AI film work? AI filmmakers making ads covers how a brand film becomes a set of ad versions.
Who this is for
- Independent AI creators and editors. You make the ads yourself. You know your work performs, so you'd rather be paid on what it does than on a flat fee.
- AI agencies and studios. You run a team of editors. You write the brief, your team makes the versions, and you're paid on performance because you know your team's ads scale.
Not for you if
- You only want a flat fee.
- You're new to editing and not yet confident your ads will perform.
- You want every shot spelled out for you.
- You make one style and won't try others.
FAQ
What is an AI brand film ad?
It is a short, cinematic ad made with AI video tools: wide establishing shots, a product hero shot and music or a voiceover, with no presenter speaking to camera. It looks like a TV-style commercial rather than a phone video.
How long should an AI brand film ad be?
Cut it to the placement. A 15 to 30 second version suits most feed placements, and a longer cut can sit on a landing page or YouTube. Make the short cut first, because every extra shot is another chance for the product or character to drift.
Should a brand film ad be landscape or vertical?
Most of the examples here are landscape, which suits the film look. For feed and stories, make a vertical 9:16 version as well: compose the key frames with the product in the centre so the vertical crop still works.
Can an AI brand film use the same script as a UGC ad?
Yes. Keep the angle and the promise, and turn the spoken lines into a short voiceover or on-screen lines over the shots. One winning script, made in every ad format shows the method.
Do AI brand film ads need an AI label?
Check the rules of the platform you are running on before launch. AI ad labels on Meta and TikTok covers what each platform asks for.
