AI content creator jobs: the types of AI video work and how each pays

By James Tumbucon

AI content creator jobs fall into four types of video work: AI ad creative, AI filmmaking, AI UGC, and motion or AI art. Each type is posted in different places, from agencies and freelance marketplaces to AI film job boards and performance-paid platforms, and each is paid differently. This guide covers all four and what buyers check.

What is an AI content creator job?

An AI content creator job is paid work where the video, image or voice is made with AI generators instead of, or alongside, a camera. The job titles vary (AI content creator, AI video creator, AI artist, AI filmmaker, AI video editor), but the work sorts into four types.

Type What you make Who buys it Judged on
AI ad creative Finished short-form ads and many versions of each Brands, agencies, performance-paid platforms Whether viewers watch and act
AI filmmaking Brand films, music videos, short films, trailers Studios, brands, agencies, artists Story, look and consistency
AI UGC Selfie-style, talking-head and testimonial-style videos made with avatars or generated people Brands and UGC platforms Whether it feels native to the feed
Motion and AI art Stills, illustration, animated loops, motion graphics, product renders Brands, publishers, designers, agencies Look and brand fit

The title on a post often does not match the work. Read the deliverables, not the title: a post called "AI artist" can be an ad job, and a post called "AI video editor" can be a long-form YouTube job.

AI ad creative: AI video editor jobs

AI ad creative is the making of finished ads with AI tools: hook, scenes, voice, captions and edit. The job is not one ad. It is many versions of one script, in several formats, so a brand can test them.

Where it is posted:

  • Agencies that make ads for brands and keep a roster of editors.
  • Brands that hire editors directly, often after seeing their ads.
  • Freelance marketplaces, under video editing and AI video searches.
  • Performance-paid platforms that give briefs and pay on results.

How it is paid: per video, per batch, monthly retainer or performance, and some deals mix a base with performance. There is no published salary figure for AI ad editors. Performance pay vs flat fee for AI editors compares the models with published platform terms.

What buyers check:

  • A hook in the opening seconds and a clear call to action.
  • The same product, label and person from shot to shot.
  • No visible generation errors: hands, faces, text on packaging.
  • Claims the brand could legally make.
  • Range: the same angle as a UGC selfie video, a podcast clip, a drama and an animated spot. See one script, every format.

This is the type Anglr pays for. See the editors page if you edit ads, or the creators page if you make full ads on your own.

AI filmmaking jobs

AI filmmaking is the making of story-led films where the shots are generated: brand films, music videos, short films, trailers and title sequences. The skills are closer to directing than to ad editing: shot design, references for consistency, pacing and sound.

Where it is posted:

  • AI film job boards. The Curious Refuge Creative AI Jobs Board describes itself as a board for "AI Filmmaking Jobs & Creative AI Opportunities Around the World". Curious Refuge also sells AI filmmaking courses.
  • AI film communities and festivals, where studios and brands find directors.
  • Studios and production companies that have added AI teams.
  • Freelance marketplaces, for one-off pieces.

How it is paid: usually per project, scoped by length and number of shots. On marketplaces such as Upwork, that is a fixed-price contract paid by milestone, where the client funds each milestone before work starts, according to Upwork's help center. No source publishes a market rate for AI films.

What buyers check: a reel with one or two longer pieces that hold a character and a world together, plus shorter cuts. Visual consistency across shots matters more here than in ads.

If you want ad work alongside films, AI filmmakers making ads covers what changes, and AI brand film ad examples shows the format.

AI UGC creator jobs

AI UGC is video that looks like user-generated content (a person talking to camera, unboxing or reviewing) but is made with avatars, generated people or synthetic voices. It is bought mostly as ad creative.

Where it is posted:

  • Freelance marketplaces. Fiverr's UGC video service guidelines split its UGC Videos section into "Human UGC and AI UGC", and describe AI UGC as videos made with "avatars or synthetic voiceovers" without a human on camera.
  • UGC platforms and UGC agencies that accept AI-made work. Check each one's terms first; the UGC creators hub and UGC creator jobs cover the platforms.
  • Brands and agencies directly.
  • Performance-paid platforms.

How it is paid: mostly per video or per package, with paid usage, whitelisting and exclusivity as add-ons. Fiverr's guidelines tell sellers to "State usage rights and upsells: paid ads, whitelisting, exclusivity, duration/territories."

What buyers check: that it reads as native to the feed, that the avatar or voice is licensed, and that nothing misleads. Fiverr asks AI UGC sellers to "confirm tool licenses, voice/avatar permissions, and any likeness approvals" and to be transparent about human vs AI production.

AI UGC vs real UGC covers when each one fits, and AI ad labels on Meta and TikTok covers disclosure.

AI artist jobs and motion work

AI artist jobs ask for stills, illustration, product renders, animated loops and motion graphics made with AI image and video tools. Some are brand or publishing work; some are ads in an animated style.

Where it is posted: freelance marketplaces, design job boards, agencies and studios. Search by deliverable (product render, animated logo, motion graphics) as well as by "AI artist", because many posts do not use the word AI in the title.

How it is paid: per image, per set or per project. Hourly contracts appear for ongoing design support.

What buyers check: a consistent style across a set, clean text and logos, and files delivered in the sizes they need.

Motion work overlaps with ad creative when the output is an animated ad. Pixar-style AI ad examples and claymation and craft AI ad examples show what that looks like.

How is AI video work paid?

AI video work is paid per piece, per project, on retainer or on performance, and the type of work shapes which model you are offered. No first-party salary source publishes a figure for "AI video editor", "AI video creator" or "AI artist", so this guide gives no AI-specific pay figures.

Type Pay model you will usually be offered Also seen Risk sits with
AI ad creative Per video or per batch Retainer, performance, base plus performance Shifts to you under performance pay
AI filmmaking Per project Milestones on marketplaces Shared, set by the scope
AI UGC Per video or per package Usage and whitelisting add-ons The buyer, under flat fees
Motion and AI art Per image, set or project Hourly for ongoing support The buyer, under flat fees

For the closest official figures, see the pay section of remote video editor jobs, which covers all US video editors with dated sources. For published AI ad rates, see how much to charge for AI UGC ads.

What marketplace rules apply to AI work?

Check a marketplace's AI rules before you list or bid, because they decide what you can deliver and what you must disclose. Fiverr's AI guidelines are a clear example:

  • Fiverr "permits the use of AI across all service categories".
  • AI-assisted work must be "meaningfully refined and customized" to the client's needs; generic or reused AI output does not meet its standards.
  • Freelancers must honor a client's explicit request for non-AI work.
  • Prohibited uses include deepfakes and using someone's voice or likeness without authorization.
  • If there is a dispute, Fiverr looks at whether the work reflects the freelancer's own effort, not only raw AI output.

Read the equivalent page on any other platform you use, and keep a note of which tools made each piece in case a client asks.

What should an AI video portfolio show?

An AI video portfolio should show finished pieces in the one type of work you want to be hired for. Buyers in each type look for different things, so a mixed reel is weaker than a focused one.

If you want Show Leave out
AI ad creative Three to five finished ads, each with two or three hook versions Long films, single stills
AI filmmaking One or two longer pieces plus short cuts Ad versions with on-screen offers
AI UGC Talking-head and review-style pieces with clean lip sync Anything using a real person's likeness without permission
Motion and AI art A consistent set in one style, plus one animated piece Unrelated one-off images

Label spec work as spec work. Never present a spec piece as something a brand commissioned, and never use a real brand's logo without permission.

Which type of AI video work should you choose?

Choose the type that matches the skill you already have. The tools are shared across all four; the judgement is not.

You are strongest at Start with
Cutting short videos and writing hooks AI ad creative
Story, shot design and visual style AI filmmaking
Scripts that sound like a real person talking AI UGC
Design, illustration or animation Motion and AI art

You can add a second type later. An AI filmmaker can add ad work, and an AI UGC maker can move into full ad creative once they can make every format.

Where Anglr fits

Anglr pays AI creators and editors on performance to remake winning ad scripts in every format: UGC, podcast, drama, animation and brand film. It covers the ad creative type, and AI UGC and animated work when they are made as ads.

You get briefs with winning angles and examples, you use your own AI tools, and every video goes through QC and compliance review before it goes live. Pay is on performance, with an optional smart retainer for hitting volume, and you own the ads you make.

Anglr is not for beginners. It is for creators and editors whose ads already perform. See the editors page or the creators page, and the AI video editing work hub for the rest of this cluster.

Who this is for

  • Independent AI creators and editors. You make the ads yourself. You know your work performs, so you'd rather be paid on what it does than on a flat fee.
  • AI agencies and studios. You run a team of editors. You write the brief, your team makes the versions, and you're paid on performance because you know your team's ads scale.

Not for you if

  • You only want a flat fee.
  • You're new to editing and not yet confident your ads will perform.
  • You want every shot spelled out for you.
  • You make one style and won't try others.

FAQ

How much does an AI video creator make?

No salary source publishes a figure for AI video creators or AI video editors. Pay depends on the type of work and the pay model: per video, per project, retainer or performance. How much to charge for AI UGC ads collects the published rates for AI ad work.

How do I become an AI video creator?

Pick one of the four types of AI video work, learn two or three AI video tools well, and make three to five finished spec pieces in that type. Then go to the places that type is posted, which this guide lists.
