SideShift alternatives for creators, including AI-only options

By James Tumbucon
Updated · 7 min read

The main SideShift alternatives for creators are Trybe (jointrybe.com), Content Rewards, Fiverr, JoinBrands and Anglr. SideShift's terms ban AI-generated avatars on creator profiles and say the creator must personally perform the work, so AI creators usually choose platforms that state they take AI-made content: Fiverr's AI UGC category, or Anglr.

What is SideShift?

SideShift is a two-sided UGC marketplace: brands run campaigns and creators apply to make content for them. Its creator page is titled "Make more money making content online" (SideShift), and brands buy separate software plans.

Here is what SideShift states for creators.

Point What SideShift states Source
Where you can be based "We currently support creators based in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia." Creator page
Age At least 18. "The Services are not available to minors, including with parental or guardian consent." Terms
Sign-up A free account and a profile that works as "a common application", with your social handles and links to top-performing videos Creator page
When you are paid "after each campaign, with funds released to your creator wallet within a few days" Creator page
Earnings SideShift's own claim: "Earnings range from $200–$2,000/month plus performance bonuses ($1–$4 per 1,000 views)." Creator page
Fee to creators "SideShift charges brands, not creators." It also "charges really small fees on bank withdrawals". The amount is not stated on their site Creator page
Paid creator plan An optional monthly or annual creator subscription is allowed, and "not required to use the free marketplace features". The price is not stated on their site Terms
Payout provider "Whop or another provider designated by SideShift" Terms

The earnings range above is SideShift's statement about its own platform. We have no independent figure to compare it with.

Does SideShift accept AI-made videos?

SideShift does not state a rule on AI-generated deliverables. Its rules on AI are about the creator: you may not use "an AI-generated avatar, another person's image, a materially altered identity image" (terms C1.2), and "AI-avatar use" is listed as grounds for immediate suspension (C14.1) (SideShift terms).

The terms also say "The Creator must personally perform the accepted work" (C4.1), and the EULA repeats that creators may not use an AI-generated avatar for the profile.

What this means in practice:

  • The terms are written around a real, identified person who does the work and often posts it. Approved deliverables must stay live "for at least three (3) months" unless the campaign agreement says otherwise (C6.1).
  • If your ads are fully generated, with no person filming, read the Campaign Participation Agreement for each campaign before you apply. SideShift's public pages do not answer the question.
  • If you want a platform whose rules name AI-made work directly, see the next two sections.

Which SideShift alternatives take AI-made content?

Two of the five say so plainly: Fiverr and Anglr. JoinBrands lists AI creators but publishes no rules, and Trybe and Content Rewards do not state a rule either way.

Fiverr. Fiverr says it "now offers two types of UGC services: Human UGC and AI UGC", and that AI UGC "uses tools like avatars or synthetic voiceovers to create UGC-style videos without a human on camera" (Fiverr UGC guidelines). It sets conditions:

  • AI work "must be high-quality, original, and meaningfully refined and customized" (Fiverr AI guidelines).
  • You must "honor a client's explicit request for non-AI work".
  • For AI UGC, "confirm tool licenses, voice/avatar permissions, and any likeness approvals".

JoinBrands. Its creator page lists "AI Creators" among creator types (JoinBrands), and its brand price list includes "AI Videos $5 /video" (JoinBrands pricing). No rules on AI content were found on either page.

Anglr (this site). Anglr works only with AI creators, editors and agencies. It supplies the winning scripts and winning angles for each brand, and your job is to remake them in every format, such as UGC, podcast, drama, animation and brand film, at volume. Every video gets a QC and compliance review against ad platform and brand rules before it goes live.

Whichever platform you choose, AI-made ads need the right disclosure on each ad network. The rules are in AI ad labels on Meta and TikTok.

Who each one fits

SideShift is the better choice for some creators, and so are the other platforms on this list. Use the table to match your situation.

If you... Better fit What the platform states
are just getting started and film yourself SideShift "This opens the door for anyone to earn—even for folks just getting started!"
want to be paid per view on posts you make Content Rewards or SideShift CPM per 1,000 views; SideShift adds performance bonuses per 1,000 views
want a fixed price per job, agreed upfront JoinBrands or Fiverr "No price negotiations"; on Fiverr you set the Gig price
sell AI UGC to many small buyers Fiverr A separate AI UGC service type
want brand programs with no follower minimum Trybe (jointrybe.com) "No — followers don't matter on Trybe."
make full AI ads and already know they perform Anglr (this site) Paid on performance; winning scripts and angles supplied

Anglr is not for beginners, and it is not for anyone who only wants a flat fee per video. If either describes you, SideShift, JoinBrands or Fiverr will suit you better.

How do you apply to each one?

Each platform has its own sign-up route. Here is the first step for each, from its own pages.

  1. SideShift. Create a free account at app.sideshift.app/signup/creators, fill in the profile, and add links to your best videos. A free UGC course "(found under Badges)" earns "a verified badge" (SideShift).
  2. Trybe (jointrybe.com). Use the creator app, which is "live on iOS, with Android coming soon". Brands can invite you from the Discovery feed, or you request to join programs from your brand feed (Trybe).
  3. Content Rewards. "Browse Discover and join anything that suits your style." Some campaigns ask you to apply first, and you submit your post link "within 30 minutes" of posting (Content Rewards).
  4. Fiverr. Every account starts as a client account. Activate the freelancer account on desktop; freelancers are "reviewed during sign-up and Gig creation" (Fiverr).
  5. JoinBrands. "Get started - it's free", then "Pick a job", "Create content", "Get paid" (JoinBrands).
  6. Anglr (this site). Applying is free. Send ads you made, plus results if you have them, through the creator page. Every application is reviewed by hand against the published standards. Editors can start from Anglr for AI video editors.

What should you check before moving work off SideShift?

Check what your current SideShift agreements still require, then check the same points on the new platform. These clauses come from SideShift's terms.

SideShift clause What it says What to check on the new platform
C6.1 Approved deliverables stay live "for at least three (3) months" unless the campaign agreement says otherwise Whether you must post on your own account, and for how long
C8.1 and C8.2 SideShift guarantees eligible pay under a campaign agreement signed through it; nonpayment claims within "thirty (30) days" Who guarantees payment, and the deadline for a claim
C9.1 A payout may be held "for up to one hundred eighty (180) days" where fraud is suspected Hold and review rules on payouts
Creator page Withdrawal fees exist; the amount is not published Every fee between the brand's payment and your bank

Two more points to compare: who sets your rate (you, the brand or the platform), and whether the platform's rules allow the way you make videos. For a wider list of platforms, see the comparison index and the Trybe alternatives page.

Who this is for

  • Independent AI creators and editors. You make the ads yourself. You know your work performs, so you'd rather be paid on what it does than on a flat fee.
  • AI agencies and studios. You run a team of editors. You write the brief, your team makes the versions, and you're paid on performance because you know your team's ads scale.

Not for you if

  • You only want a flat fee.
  • You're new to editing and not yet confident your ads will perform.
  • You want every shot spelled out for you.
  • You make one style and won't try others.

FAQ

Is SideShift legit?

SideShift publishes creator terms that include a payment guarantee for eligible compensation under a Campaign Participation Agreement signed through SideShift, with nonpayment claims filed within 30 days. We have not used it; read its terms before you accept a campaign.

How much does SideShift pay creators?

Pay is set per campaign. SideShift's own claim on its creator page is that "Earnings range from $200–$2,000/month plus performance bonuses ($1–$4 per 1,000 views)." That is SideShift's figure, not an independent one.

Does SideShift charge creators a fee?

SideShift says it "charges brands, not creators" but charges "really small fees on bank withdrawals". The withdrawal fee amount is not stated on their site. Its terms also allow an optional paid creator subscription that is not required to use the free marketplace.

Can you use AI on SideShift?

SideShift's terms ban AI-generated avatars on creator profiles and say the creator must personally perform the accepted work. A rule on AI-generated deliverables is not stated on their site, so check each campaign agreement.

Who can join SideShift as a creator?

SideShift says it supports creators based in the US, Canada, UK and Australia. Its terms require you to be at least 18, with no exception for parental consent.

What is the best SideShift alternative for AI creators?

For gig work, Fiverr runs a separate AI UGC service type. If you make full AI ads that already perform, Anglr pays on performance and supplies the winning scripts and angles.
