Runway pricing comes two ways: app plans with monthly credits, and an API billed per credit at $0.01 each. Runway's pricing page, checked 12 Oct 2026, lists Standard at $12, Pro at $28 and Max at $76 a month billed annually, with 625, 2,250 and 9,500 credits. Gen-4.5 uses 60 credits per 5 seconds.

How does Runway pricing work?

Runway sells app plans with a monthly credit allowance, and a separate API where you buy credits at a fixed price. Each model spends credits at its own rate.

Runway's pricing page, checked 12 Oct 2026, shows the yearly view:

Plan Billed annually Monthly price shown struck through Credits a month
Free $0 125 one-time credits
Standard $12 a month ("Save $36/year") $15 625
Pro $28 a month ("Save $84/year") $35 2,250
Max $76 a month ("Save $228/year") $95 9,500, rolling over 1 month

The monthly prices are the struck-through figures, and match the page's own structured price data. The monthly toggle did not render, so credits on monthly billing are not confirmed. The calculator therefore uses the annual plans only. Credits cannot be purchased on Free.

How many credits does each Runway model use?

In the app, Runway lists credits per clip:

  • Gen-4.5: 60 credits per 5 seconds. Runway says Standard's 625 credits equal "52s of Gen-4.5".
  • Aleph 2.0: 140 credits per 5 seconds.
  • Seedance 2.0 Pro (1080p): 160 credits per 4 seconds.
  • Seedance 2.0 Fast: 116 credits per 4 seconds.

On the Runway API, "Credits can be purchased for $0.01 per credit", and models are priced in credits per second. Examples: gen4.5 at 12 (so $0.12 a second), gen4_turbo at 5, aleph2 at 28, veo3.1 at 40 with audio or 20 without, veo3.1_fast at 15 or 10, and seedance2 at 36 for 480p or 720p.

The API adds output surcharges: ProRes or PNG sequence adds 5 credits a second, and 10-bit or HDR adds 20 or 40.

What does one ad cost on Runway?

Take 5-second clips, 3 attempts per clip you keep, 4 clips per ad and 10 ads a month: 600 seconds of generated video. The calculator on this page opens on Gen-4.5 with these inputs.

App plan, Gen-4.5. 60 credits ÷ 5 seconds × 600 seconds = 7,200 credits a month. Standard (625) and Pro (2,250) are too small. Max at $76 a month billed annually, with 9,500 credits, covers it: $7.60 per finished ad.

API, gen4.5. 600 seconds × $0.12 = $72 a month: $7.20 per finished ad.

At this volume the two are close. The API wins on uneven months, because you pay only for seconds generated. The plan wins when you would use most of the 9,500 credits anyway, and it gives one month of rollover on Max. These are Runway's prices, not Anglr's, and they leave out editing and sound.

What is not published?

  • Credit allowances on monthly billing (only the yearly view rendered).
  • Resolution for most app credit rows, except Seedance 2.0 Pro at 1080p.
  • Kling prices on Runway: the plan cards name Kling 3.0, but there is no Kling credit row on either page.
  • Gen-4.5 native audio pricing.

How does Runway compare with other tools?

Runway is both a model maker and a reseller. Its API sells Google's Veo 3.1 and ByteDance's Seedance 2 alongside its own Gen-4.5 and Aleph models, all at one credit price.

That gives you a way to compare routes to the same model. Runway's API lists veo3.1_fast without audio at 10 credits a second, $0.10. Google's own Veo pricing lists only with-audio rates. For Seedance, compare Runway's seedance2 rate with BytePlus's own examples on the Seedance pricing page. BytePlus says its model service is not available in the United States, so check which routes you can use before you compare.

Run any of these through the calculator's side-by-side table with your own volume. For how to use Runway for ads, see Runway for ads. For every tool in one table, see the AI video pricing index or the full AI video cost calculator.
