How do you use the AI video cost calculator?
Pick a tool and model, then enter four numbers. The calculator returns your cost per finished ad, your monthly cost, and a side-by-side table of every other tool on the same inputs.
- Tool and model. Choose from the list, grouped by vendor. Each option names the model and, where the vendor sets them, the variant (for example with or without native audio) and the resolution.
- Clip length. Seconds per generated clip.
- Attempts per usable clip (your estimate). How many generations you make for each clip you keep. No vendor publishes this, so use your own count.
- Clips per ad. How many generated clips you cut into one finished ad.
- Ads per month. Finished ads you deliver in a month.
Under the inputs, the price source for the selected model is linked with the date it was checked. The tool and model choice and the four numbers are saved in the page link, so Copy link to this result shares the same result. Only numbers go in the link. You can also copy the results or download them as CSV.
How does the calculator work out the cost?
It first finds the seconds of video you generate in a month, including the attempts you throw away:
Seconds generated = clip length × attempts per usable clip × clips per ad × ads per month
Then it prices those seconds one of two ways, depending on how the vendor charges.
| Pricing type | How the vendor states it | What the calculator does |
|---|---|---|
| Plan credits | Credits per clip of a set length, plus monthly plans with a credit allowance | Credits per month = (credits ÷ clip seconds on the price list) × seconds generated. Then it picks the cheapest published plan whose monthly credits cover that, and divides the plan price by ads per month. |
| Per-second API | A dollar price per second of output | Monthly cost = price per second × seconds generated. Cost per ad = monthly cost ÷ ads per month. |
For credit tools, the result is the plan price, not the value of the credits you use. If you need fewer credits than the plan gives, the spare credits are still paid for. If you need more than the largest published plan, the result reads "No plan covers it".
Worked example: Kling 3.0 on Higgsfield vs Veo 3.1 Fast on the Gemini API
Inputs: 5-second clips, 3 attempts per usable clip, 4 clips per ad, 10 ads a month. That is 5 × 3 × 4 × 10 = 600 seconds generated a month.
(a) Kling 3.0 at 720p on Higgsfield (plan credits). Higgsfield's pricing page lists Kling 3.0 at 720p at about 7 credits per 5 seconds.
- Credits per month: 7 ÷ 5 × 600 = 840 credits.
- Plans with at least 840 credits a month: Max at $59 a month billed annually (1,800 credits), Team from $65 per seat (1,000 credits per seat) and Max at $79 billed monthly. Basic (120) and Pro (600) are too small.
- Cheapest plan that covers it: Max, $59 a month billed annually.
- Cost per finished ad: $59 ÷ 10 = $5.90.
(b) Veo 3.1 Fast at 720p on the Gemini API (per second). Google's Gemini API pricing lists veo-3.1-fast-generate-preview at 720p, with audio, at $0.10 per second.
- Monthly cost: 600 × $0.10 = $60.
- Cost per finished ad: $60 ÷ 10 = $6.00.
Both figures are vendor prices checked 12 Oct 2026. They are not Anglr prices, and they leave out editing, voice, music and your time.
The two results are close, but they behave differently. On Higgsfield you pay $59 for the month even if you generate less, and you have 960 credits left over. On the API, halving your attempts halves the bill. To see that, change attempts from 3 to 2: the Veo 3.1 Fast cost falls to $4.00 per ad. Kling 3.0 on Higgsfield falls further, to $2.30 per ad, because 560 credits now fit inside Pro at $23 a month billed annually (600 credits). Plan pricing moves in steps; API pricing moves in a straight line.
Which tools are in the calculator, and which are left out?
The calculator uses only figures the vendor publishes on its own pages. Where a vendor publishes nothing usable, the tool is left out and named under the comparison table.
| Tool | In the calculator | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Higgsfield | Plan credits | Plans and per-model credit costs published |
| Runway | Plan credits and API | Annual plans list credits; monthly plans show no credit count, so only annual plans are used. API prices per second published. |
| Google Veo | API only | Gemini API per-second prices published; Google AI plans publish no Veo credit costs |
| Kling | API only | API per-second prices published. Membership plan prices need a logged-in session and could not be verified, so plan credits are not used. |
| Seedance (BytePlus) | API only | BytePlus bills per token; the calculator uses BytePlus's own per-second examples (16:9, 5-second output, no video input). Dreamina plans are shown only in PHP, so they are not used. |
| HeyGen | Not included | Plan prices published, but no credit cost per second or per video |
| Arcads | Not included | No public price list; the pricing page returns a 404 |
What are the limits of the calculator?
The result is an estimate from list prices. Check these before you budget.
- Credit costs are approximate. Higgsfield shows its credit costs with a "~". The calculator also assumes credits scale with clip length, as the price list states them per 3, 4 or 5 seconds.
- Clip lengths are fixed on some models. Google's pricing notes say Veo clips are 4, 6 or 8 seconds, and 1080p and 4K must be 8 seconds. The calculator does not stop you entering other lengths.
- Team plans are per seat. Higgsfield's Team plan is priced and credited per seat; the calculator treats it as one seat.
- No top-ups or rollovers. Plans are compared for one month at their published credit allowance.
- Taxes are excluded unless the vendor says otherwise.
- Seedance costs move with aspect ratio. BytePlus's examples are for 16:9; a 9:16 clip at the same resolution has the same pixel count, but input video adds tokens.

Where to go next
Each tool has its own page with its full published price tables and this calculator preset to it: Higgsfield, HeyGen, Arcads, Runway, Veo 3, Kling and Seedance. The AI video pricing index puts them in one table.
For how to use each tool for ads, see Higgsfield for UGC ads, HeyGen for ads, Arcads alternatives, Runway for ads, Veo 3 for ads, Kling for ads and Seedance for ads. If you price your own work, how much to charge for AI UGC ads covers rates.
Anglr pays AI creators on performance to remake winning ad scripts in every format, and AI credits can be covered based on performance; agreed when you join. See how it works for creators.

FAQ
How much does an AI video generator cost per month?
It depends on the tool and how much you generate. Published entry plans checked 12 Oct 2026 include Higgsfield Basic at $9 a month billed annually and Runway Standard at $12 a month billed annually; API tools such as Veo 3.1 charge per second instead.
How much does AI video cost per second?
On the vendors' own API pages, checked 12 Oct 2026, Veo 3.1 Fast at 720p is $0.10 per second, Veo 3.1 is $0.40 per second, and Kling 3.0 without audio at 720p is $0.084 per second. Prices change with model, resolution and audio.
What are credits in AI video tools?
Credits are a plan's monthly allowance, spent per generation. Each model costs a set number of credits per clip, for example about 7 credits per 5 seconds for Kling 3.0 at 720p on Higgsfield, so the same plan buys more seconds on a cheaper model.
Why is HeyGen or Arcads not in the comparison?
HeyGen publishes plan prices but no credit cost per second or per video, and Arcads publishes no price list at all. Without those, the calculator cannot work out a cost per ad from public figures.
How many attempts does one usable AI clip take?
There is no published figure, and it varies with the model, the shot and how strict you are. Count your own attempts over a week of work and enter that number; the calculator labels it as your estimate.
Is the API cheaper than a plan?
Sometimes. A plan is a fixed monthly price whether you use all the credits or not, while an API bills only the seconds you generate. Run both kinds in the calculator with the same inputs and compare the side-by-side table.
