Seedance vs Kling at a glance
The two tools overlap on the basics an ad maker needs: vertical video, sound, image input and video input. The differences that matter for ads are versions, reference limits, lip-sync tooling, availability and commercial terms. Every fact in the table comes from the vendor's own pages, checked on 12 Oct 2026.

Pricing detail
Seedance on the API is billed as "Token unit price × Token consumption". The BytePlus pricing page listed Seedance 2.5 at 480p or 720p at USD 10.70 per million tokens for input without video and USD 6.40 with video, and Seedance 2.0 at 480p or 720p at USD 7.0 and USD 4.3. That table did not parse cleanly when it was checked, so confirm the rates on the live page before you budget. To turn on Seedance 2.0 or 2.5 the video task docs say you need a balance above USD 30, a USD 30+ AI Savings Plan or a Seedance resource pack.
Kling's membership page showed, on the monthly toggle: Standard $6.99 for the first month, then $8.8/month, 660 credits/month; Pro $25.99, then $32.56/month, 3000 credits/month; Premier $64.99, then $80.96/month, 8000 credits/month; Ultra $127.99, then $159.99/month, 26000 credits/month. The first-month price is a one-time offer. Kling's API pricing sits on a separate page that was not captured.
Credits and tokens are not comparable units, and prices can be localised by visitor location. Work out cost per finished ad from your own generation count, not from the plan price.
Why published comparisons disagree
Most pages ranking for this comparison are written by companies that resell access to one or both models. Their verdicts conflict, and some compare older versions (Kling 2.0 or Seedance 2.0) against current ones. Treat any "winner" you read as one team's test, and check the version labels before you rely on it.
Which to use for which ad format
The table below is guidance derived from the published capabilities above. It is not a result of side-by-side output tests. Each row names a starting tool; run the same script through both before you make a full batch.
| Format | What the format needs | What the published specs say | Starting point |
|---|---|---|---|
| UGC selfie and story-time | 9:16, one face that stays the same, speech that matches the mouth | Both do 9:16 and native audio. Kling lists Lip Sync as a separate feature on all API versions. Seedance 2.5 takes your own voice track as reference audio, including audio-only input | Kling if you want lip sync as its own step; Seedance if you start from a finished voiceover |
| Talking head | Steady framing, a long uninterrupted take | Seedance 2.5 and Kling 4.0 both reach 30 s per clip; Kling 3.0 on the API stops at 15 s | Either, on its newest version |
| Podcast two-shot | Two consistent hosts, two voices, a cut between singles | Kling 4.0 lists up to 7 subjects per generation and voices attached to subjects. Seedance 2.5 takes up to 30 reference images and 10 audio clips | Kling 4.0 for subject and voice binding; Seedance 2.5 if you bring both voice tracks |
| Drama | Several characters, a turn in the story, fixes to single lines | Seedance 2.5 has an edit task for the visuals or audio of an existing video; Kling 4.0 lists Precise Video Editing |
Either; pick the one whose edit tool fits your fix workflow |
| Animation and claymation | One style held across every shot | Neither vendor publishes an animation-specific feature; both accept style reference images | Either, driven by reference images |
| Product hero shot | Product shape and label held, clean frames for a packshot | Seedance 2.0 and Kling 3.0 both output 4K; Seedance 2.5 stops at 1080p. Both accept first and last frames | Seedance 2.0 or Kling 3.0 at 4K, with a product reference image |
| Brand film | Wide framing, high resolution, longer takes | Seedance's API lists 21:9; Kling lists 21:9 on 4.0 only. Kling 4.0 also lists 4K output | Seedance 2.5 for 21:9 up to 1080p; Kling 4.0 if you need 21:9 and 4K on one version |
Two published facts change these choices more than any other. If you work from the United States through an API, the BytePlus Model Services terms say the Seedance API is not available there. If you plan to use Kling on the free Basic plan, the output is not cleared for commercial use.
Workflow: using both in one project
You do not have to pick one. Using both on a single ad is an option, not a requirement, and it adds a step: matching the look across tools.
Ways to split the work, based on what each tool accepts:
- Stills in one, motion in the other. Make the first frame or keyframes in one tool, then pass them as image input to the other. Both accept a first frame; both accept first and last frames on most versions.
- Voice once, picture twice. Record or generate the full voiceover first. Seedance 2.5 takes it as reference audio; Kling lists a separate Lip Sync feature. Keep one master audio file so the voice does not change between shots.
- Fix in the tool you generated in. Seedance 2.5's
edittask and Kling 4.0's editing tools each work on video input, but a clip edited in the other tool may shift in look. Re-generate in the original tool where you can.
Joining clips into a 15 to 45 second ad
Most feed ads need more than one generation. With 15-second clips (Seedance 2.0, Kling 3.0) a 45-second ad takes at least three; with 30-second clips (Seedance 2.5, Kling 4.0) it takes two. In practice you will cut more shots than that, because a short shot is quicker to re-generate when one part of it fails.
Plan the ad as beats, then map each beat to a clip:
Ad length: [15 / 30 / 45] s Aspect: 9:16 Tool per shot: [Seedance / Kling]
Beat 1 Hook 0–3 s [shot description] Line: "[hook line]"
Beat 2 Problem 3–10 s [shot description] Line: "[problem line]"
Beat 3 Proof 10–20 s [shot description] Line: "[proof line]"
Beat 4 Product 20–35 s [product shot] Reference: [product image]
Beat 5 CTA 35–45 s [shot description] Line: "[call to action]"
Same for every shot: [character reference], [wardrobe], [location], [lighting]
Rules for the edit:
- Generate every shot at the same aspect ratio and resolution. Upscaling one shot to match others shows.
- Add captions, prices, offers, logos and legal lines in the editor, not in the prompt. Text added in the edit can be changed for each version without re-generating.
- Seedance outputs mono audio and Kling 4.0 outputs stereo. If you mix tools, set the final mix to one format and level the dialogue across clips.
- Seedance's docs give 24 fps as the frame rate in its frame-count formula. Kling does not publish a frame rate on the pages checked, so check the file you download and conform both to one rate in the edit.
- Cut on movement or on a line break, not mid-word. Check each join with the sound on: a cut that clips a syllable or a gesture is easy to miss with the sound off.
Terms and labels
Read each tool's own wording before you deliver work to a client. The lines below are quoted from the vendors' terms, checked on 12 Oct 2026.
Seedance (BytePlus API). The Model Services terms contain no plain "you own the output" sentence. They do include an IP indemnity: "BytePlus shall defend you against a third party claim alleging that your permitted use of any Output generated by a BytePlus Model Services ... infringes the intellectual property rights of that third party". They also say "The BytePlus Model Services are not available in the United States", and section 4.2.3 restricts reselling the service into UGC or AI-creation platforms.
Seedance (Dreamina app). The Dreamina terms say: "Our Services are generally provided for private, non-commercial use." Commercial use applies only "if permitted" under additional terms, so confirm your plan's terms before client work.
Kling. Free use, per the Terms of Service section 4.6: "without our written permission, you may not use, reproduce, distribute, and create derivative works of, and make modifications to, the Output for any commercial purposes." Paid members, per the Terms of Paid Service: "KLING AI members' use of the Output for commercial purposes is not restricted", except for developing or offering products that compete with Kling. Section 4.4 says "We do not claim ownership of the Content", and section 4.5 says outputs must carry a Kling AI label unless Kling gives permission otherwise.
Platform labels. The tool's terms are only half of it. TikTok's ad policy allows AI-generated content in ads only if you "Apply the AIGC label, or by adding a clear disclaimer, caption, watermark, or sticker of your own." Meta applies its own AI info label. The full rules for both are in AI-generated content labels on Meta and TikTok ads.
Next step: one script in every format
A tool comparison only matters once you have a script worth making. The method for taking one winning script and making it as UGC, podcast, drama, animation and brand film versions is in One winning script, made in every ad format. For single-tool guides, see Seedance for ads and Kling for ads.
Anglr pays AI creators, editors and agencies on performance to make those versions. Anglr provides the winning scripts and angles; you make them in every format, in volume. If you already make full ads with Seedance, Kling or both, see how it works for creators or for agencies.
Who this is for
- Independent AI creators and editors. You make the ads yourself. You know your work performs, so you'd rather be paid on what it does than on a flat fee.
- AI agencies and studios. You run a team of editors. You write the brief, your team makes the versions, and you're paid on performance because you know your team's ads scale.
Not for you if
- You only want a flat fee.
- You're new to editing and not yet confident your ads will perform.
- You want every shot spelled out for you.
- You make one style and won't try others.
FAQ
What is the difference between Seedance and Kling?
Seedance is ByteDance's video model, sold as an API on BytePlus ModelArk and inside the Dreamina app. Kling is Kuaishou's video app and API. Both generate video with audio from text, images and video; they differ in published aspect ratios, reference limits, lip-sync tooling, audio channels, availability and terms, as the table on this page shows.
Which is better for ads, Seedance or Kling?
Neither vendor publishes ad-specific results, and published third-party comparisons disagree. Use the format table on this page to pick a starting tool for each format, then test both on the same script before you commit a batch.
Can both Seedance and Kling generate audio and video together?
Yes. Seedance generates synchronized sound by default and its audio is mono. Kling lists native audio on Kling 3.0, 3.0 Omni, 3.0 Turbo and 2.6 on its API, and two-channel stereo on Kling 4.0.
Can I use Kling's free plan for client ads?
Kling's Terms of Service say free users may not use output for any commercial purpose without written permission. Its Terms of Paid Service say paid members' commercial use is not restricted, except for building products that compete with Kling.
Can I use the Seedance API from the United States?
BytePlus's Model Services terms say the BytePlus Model Services are not available in the United States. The Dreamina app is a separate product with its own terms, which say it is generally for private, non-commercial use unless additional terms permit commercial use.
How long can a single Seedance or Kling clip be?
Seedance 2.5 accepts 4 to 30 seconds and the Seedance 2.0 series 4 to 15 seconds. Kling 4.0 generates up to 30 seconds; Kling 3.0, 3.0 Omni and 3.0 Turbo on the API generate 3 to 15 seconds.
