What is a UGC portfolio?
A UGC portfolio is a collection of your finished user-generated-content videos, shared as one link, that shows a brand what you would make for them. It replaces a CV: brands hire UGC creators on the work they can see, not on follower counts.
It is different from a media kit. The portfolio shows the videos; a media kit or rate card lists your services, packages and how to book you. Most creators send both, and the UGC rate card and contract template covers the second half.
If you are still deciding whether to do this work at all, start with how to become a UGC creator, then come back here.
What should a UGC portfolio include?
A UGC portfolio should include your best finished videos, a one-line description of what you make, and the practical details a brand needs to book you. Everything else is optional.
| Item | What to show | Why a brand needs it |
|---|---|---|
| Positioning line | One sentence: what you make, for which kind of product | Tells the reviewer in five seconds whether you fit |
| Finished videos | Complete ads with a hook, a product moment and a call to action | Clips and tests do not show you can make an ad |
| Formats | Labels such as selfie review, unboxing, demo, podcast, voiceover | Brands often search for one format |
| Niches | The product categories you have made ads for | Category fit is the first filter for most brands |
| Deliverables | Lengths, aspect ratios, hook variants, captions, raw files | Shows what a brand gets for the price |
| Turnaround | How many days from brief to first delivery | Brands planning tests need dates |
| Contact | Email or a short form, visible on every screen | A portfolio with no clear contact loses jobs |
| Results (optional) | Spend, click-through rate or return on ad spend, if you have them and are allowed to share them | Evidence the ads worked, not only that they look good |
Leave out follower counts unless a brand asks for organic posting. UGC work is about the video the brand runs, not your audience.
How should you structure a UGC portfolio?
Put your single best video at the top, then group the rest by format or niche, then add deliverables and contact. Reviewers usually look on a phone and stop early, so the order matters more than the design.
A structure that works on one page:
- Name and positioning line. "UGC and AI UGC ads for skincare and supplements" is enough.
- Hero video. Your strongest finished ad, playing in the page, not behind a download.
- Grid by format. Three to six videos, each labelled with the format and the product category.
- What you deliver. Lengths, ratios, hook variants, revisions, turnaround.
- How you work. One short paragraph: you take a brief, send a script for approval, deliver, revise.
- Contact. One action only: email or a form.
Label every video in plain words. "Unboxing, 30 seconds, 9:16, skincare" helps a reviewer more than a creative title.
How many videos should a UGC portfolio have?
Show one strong video for each format or niche you want to be hired for, and stop there. A short portfolio of strong work beats a long one with weak pieces mixed in.
Reviewers judge you by the weakest video they watch. Before you add a video, ask whether you would be happy if it were the only one a brand saw. If not, leave it out.
Replace older pieces as you make better ones, and check every link still plays each time you update the page.
Where can you host a UGC portfolio?
You can host a UGC portfolio as a shared folder, a page on a website builder, or a profile on a portfolio network. The table lists four common options with facts taken from each company's own pages on 12 Oct 2026.
| Option | What it is | Facts from the company's page | Points to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Drive folder | A shared folder of video files | With "Anyone with the link" access, "Anyone who has the link can use your file, without signing in to their Google Account". Viewers can download by default; the owner can turn that off (Google Drive Help) | Set access before you send the link; "Restricted" means only people with access can open it |
| Notion Sites | Publish a Notion page to the web | The Free plan includes "Publish a Notion page to the web" with one notion.site domain; custom domains cost $8 per month per domain paid annually or $10 paid monthly (Notion pricing, Notion Sites) | How videos play inside the page; Notion's own page does not describe video embeds |
| Carrd | One-page website builder | Pro Lite costs $9 per year for 3 sites with no custom domain; Pro Standard costs $19 per year for 10 sites with custom domains. Paid plans list video uploads up to 64MB; embeds and widgets start at Pro Standard (Carrd Pro) | File size limit for long or high-resolution videos |
| Behance | Adobe's creative portfolio network | Describes itself as "a community of over 50 million members"; offers a paid Behance Pro tier with a 7-day free trial (Behance) | Whether free accounts cover what you need; Behance's page does not say |
Whichever you choose, test the link in a private browser window on your phone before you send it. One of the common reasons applications fail at Anglr is ads that cannot be viewed without signing in, as listed in the published standards.
Hosting the files on a platform that compresses video is fine for a portfolio. Keep the full-quality exports yourself so you can send them when a brand asks.
How is an AI UGC portfolio different?
An AI UGC portfolio has to prove three things a filmed portfolio does not: that you can make full ads in several formats, that the product and characters stay consistent, and that the work is free of generation errors. Format range matters more because an AI creator is not limited to one face, one room or one camera.
Show one finished ad per format you can make. The examples of AI ads on this site are grouped by format, which is a useful checklist of what reviewers recognise.
| Format | What a portfolio piece should show | Public examples to study |
|---|---|---|
| Selfie UGC | A believable person talking to camera in a real-looking room, with the product in hand | AI get-ready and lifestyle UGC ads, AI talking head ads |
| Podcast | Hosts at mics, a two-camera cut, captions, the product in the conversation | AI podcast ads |
| Drama | A short scene with a problem, a turn and the product as the answer | AI drama ads |
| Animation | A consistent 3D or stop-motion style character across shots | Pixar style AI ads, AI claymation and craft ads |
| Brand film | Cinematic shots with music and a clear product moment | AI brand film ads |
The examples pages show public AI ads from posts on X. They were not made by or for Anglr, and they are there to study structure, not to copy.
A strong move is to make one script in several formats and show the set side by side. It shows a reviewer you can scale a winning angle, which is the work most AI ad buyers want. One winning script, made in every ad format explains how.
Add three things a filmed creator does not need:
- A tools line. Name the AI tools you use for video, voice and editing.
- A disclosure line. Say the work is made with AI. Platforms have their own labelling rules; AI ad labels on Meta and TikTok covers them.
- A consistency check. Watch every piece frame by frame for a product that changes shape, colour or label, and for faces, hands or on-screen text with errors. Remove any piece that fails.
What should a creative strategist portfolio show?
A creative strategist portfolio shows how you decide what to make, not only the finished ads. Reviewers want to see the research, the angle and the testing plan behind each piece.
For each case, include:
- The brief or problem. Product, audience and what the ad had to do.
- The angle and hooks. The reason to buy you chose, and the hook variants you wrote.
- The iterations. What you changed between versions and why.
- The outcome. Results if you can share them; if not, say what was tested.
If you both plan and make ads, combine the two portfolios: each case shows the strategy notes next to the finished video. That is close to how AI ad work is run, where one person often takes an angle from brief to finished versions.
How do you make a UGC portfolio with no brand work?
Make spec ads: unpaid sample ads for products you already own or could buy, made as if a brand had briefed you. Label them as spec work.
Rules for spec ads:
- Pick products in the niche you want to be hired for.
- Write a short brief for yourself first: product, audience, angle, length.
- Make finished ads with a hook, a product moment and a call to action, not clips.
- Do not show a brand's name or logo in a way that suggests the brand hired you.
- Keep claims to what the brand itself says publicly; do not invent health or results claims.
For AI spec ads, the same rules apply. Also make sure the person in the ad is not a likeness of a real person.
UGC portfolio examples: how should you use them?
Study other portfolios for structure, not for design or content. Look at the order of sections, how videos are labelled and how contact works, then build your own.
When you look at examples, check that each one links to the creator's own public page. A screenshot of a portfolio with no source tells you nothing about whether the creator made the work. This page does not present any third-party portfolio as an example for that reason.
What are the most common UGC portfolio mistakes?
The most common mistakes are showing clips instead of finished ads and hiding the work behind a sign-in. Both make a reviewer close the page.
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Clips or model tests with no hook, product moment or call to action | Show only finished ads |
| Product changes shape, colour or label between shots | Regenerate or cut the shot |
| Faces, hands or on-screen text with visible errors | Fix or remove the piece |
| Claims a brand could not legally make | Rewrite to the brand's own approved claims |
| Link needs a sign-in or download | Set public access and test in a private window |
| No contact details | Add one clear contact action |
The first four items are the same checks Anglr applies to applications, listed in full under what we look for.
Where does Anglr fit?
Anglr is not for beginners. It pays AI creators, editors and agencies whose ads already perform, on performance, with an optional smart retainer for hitting volume.
If you already have finished AI ads that meet the standards above, your portfolio is your application: send the ads, plus results if you have them. Every application is reviewed by hand. Read how Anglr works for creators, or see all the UGC creator guides.
Who this is for
- Independent AI creators and editors. You make the ads yourself. You know your work performs, so you'd rather be paid on what it does than on a flat fee.
- AI agencies and studios. You run a team of editors. You write the brief, your team makes the versions, and you're paid on performance because you know your team's ads scale.
Not for you if
- You only want a flat fee.
- You're new to editing and not yet confident your ads will perform.
- You want every shot spelled out for you.
- You make one style and won't try others.
FAQ
What should a UGC portfolio include?
Your best finished videos, a one-line description of what you make, the niches and formats you cover, what a brand gets (lengths, ratios, revisions, turnaround) and a way to contact you. Add results only if you have them and can share them.
How many videos should be in a UGC portfolio?
Enough to show range without making a reviewer scroll: one strong video per format or niche you sell is a good rule. Remove anything weaker than your best work, because reviewers judge you by the worst piece they see.
How do I make a UGC portfolio with no experience?
Make spec ads for products you already own or could buy, and label them as spec work. Do not show a brand's logo or name in a way that suggests the brand hired you.
Where should I host my UGC portfolio for free?
A shared Google Drive folder, a free Notion page or a portfolio site all work. On Google Drive, set the link to "Anyone with the link" so brands can open it without signing in.
What is the difference between a UGC portfolio and a media kit?
A portfolio shows your videos. A media kit or rate card lists your services, packages and contact details; the rate card template gives you one to fill in.
What should an AI UGC portfolio show?
Finished ads in more than one format (selfie UGC, podcast, drama, animation, brand film), a product that stays the same from shot to shot, and no visible generation errors. Say which tools you use and that the work is made with AI.
